As one would expect, Beatles week was a huge effort. There were so many scenes that I wanted to do that it needed to be stretched into two weeks. And there still could have been more! Although I’m a Beatles fan, I still had to do a lot of studying to ensure accuracy of things. I wanted to make sure I matched the Ed Sullivan performance and instruments, as well as the costumes for the Sgt. Pepper album. I also took a little extra time making details for the backgrounds (some photoshopping involved) and mock album covers (with real labels on the vinyl records).
The Beatles & Hot Dog Condiment Connection:
Here’s what you might not have noticed about the Beatles theme: Each hot dog character and its associated condiment was matched to its appropriate Beatles band-member. Who knew that each Beatle had their own condiment? Here’s how it worked:

- Mustard Dog is Paul: A fan favorite. Everything he touches is better because he’s a part of it.
- Ketchup Dog is John: He works well with Mustard/Paul but there’s also a rivalry there. You’ll find people who are adamantly John or Paul fans, as solo artists.
- Relish Dog is George: Less popular than John or Paul, but really, everyone relishes George. It really is like an extra treat to have him around.
- Sauerkraut Dog is Ringo: Doesn’t have as many fans as the others, but quirky and loved nonetheless.
Fun Facts:

- For the Sgt. Pepper’s parody cover, I took the left and right sides of the actual album (easily the most recognizable), smashed them together, then added Tiny Robot and Domo to help Wonky-ize them.
- Each of the guitars was made to look the actual instruments used in the Ed Sullivan performance. Lots of Google-research was done to ensure the accuracy!

- This was the first theme to stretch into two weeks!
- I chose not to add hair to the Felty Beatles. Hair on hot dogs is always weird. Beatle-hair on hot dogs was no exception.
